Lovely As A Tree made it's debut in the newest Stampin' Up! Catalogue at the beginning of June. If you can believe it, this is the first time that I have used this popular bundle! I created my handmade card today, inspired by the Global Design Project Challenge #GDP150.
I stamped my three leaves on the background Whisper White Cardstock by using my Stamparatus and doing the hinged stamping technique. Check out this video from Stampin' Up! to learn this technique - you are going to love the perfect placement of the stamps!!!
The Nature's Root Framelits have two types of dies ... dies that dry emboss and dies that cut. You will see my Tranquil Tide leaf has a textured pattern. First, I ran the leaf vein embossing die through the Big Shot machine with the new Embossing Mats. This die only embosses and does not cut out the leaves. Next, I ran the coordinating leaf framelit through with the to cut the leaves out.
Why two dies? Versatility. What if you want to add a textured leaf pattern as a background, without cutting out each leaf. This textured die allows you to do just that. Should you want the leaves cut out, then they provide a second, coordinating die, to allow you to do just that.
Now, you do not NEED the embossing mat for this to work. It does give you a better embossed image, but you can certainly do it with your standard cutting pads.
I will say though, that if you want to change a "cutting" framelit to emboss; then you are going to need these mats! This means that ANY if your thinlits and framlits can be turned into embossing dies!!!!!
The Big Shot Embossing Matts are $21 CAD (item no 146327). A great value considering that it doubles the purpose of the dies that you already own!

To create my project color combo, I pulled a couple colors from the Nature's Poem Designer Series Paper - Mint Macaron, Tranquil Tide and Blackberry Bliss. Then I added Night of Navy and Calypso Coral!
