Love is in the air! Have you thought about crafting some Valentine's this year? Valentine's day isn't just for lovers. Create some "non-traditional" Valentine's and send them to your friends and family. I had the brilliant idea (if I do say so myself) to pair the "love is in the air" greeting and the clouds from the Lift Me Up stamp set with the playful and fun comic book inspired Everyday Hero stamp set.
The graphics and fonts coordinate and make these two stamp sets perfect together.
I colored my superhero with Classic Stampin' Pads and a Blender Pen to give it a soft, watercolor look. Peekaboo Peach was perfect for her skin tone. I used a Clear Wink Of Stella Glitter Brush to color her outfit and give it a shimmery look. The little heart in her hand was punched with the Owl Builder Punch, which also got a coat of Wink of Stella over it.
I did something new for my card inside today. I stamped the city skyline and the clouds on the Smoky Slate Cardstock with Basic Grey. I cut a piece of Whisper White Cardstock to 3"x4" and stapled it onto the card.
My color combo today was inspired by Global Design Project Challenge #GDP073. These colors ... man I tell you - they were definitely a challenge. I am excited to see what the rest of the design team and are followers come up with them this week. I have to say that this is the first time I have used Emerald Envy!
As I was designing my card, I had a few rejected ideas on the cutting room floor. I did not want them to go to waste so I put them together for a bonus card for you today ...
This card is "Stepped down", using less embellishing and techniques. My super girls is simply colored direct to paper with Stampin' Write Markers, skipping the Blender Pen technique and coloring her skin. I changed the background cardstock to Night Of Navy to try something different. I really like the addition of this color to the GDP combo of Watermelon Wonder, Daffodil Delight and Emerald Envy.
If you are stamping this week the Global Design Project would love to see what you come up with using this color challenge. I am sure you are curious to see what the rest of the design team creates with these challenging colors! Click over to the GDP to learn more.
