This weekend coming up my daughter has been invited to a birthday party and I wanted to create a card for the occasion! The new Birthday products in the Occasions Catalogue were calling my name.
The stamp set is super cute ... full of balloons, ribbon, bows, banners and more! In fact there are 17 stamps in this photopolymer set ($31.95 CAD). I am a sucker for any punch or framelit that coordinates with a stamp. You guessed right, this has just that ~ the Balloon Framelits Dies. Of course Stampin' Up! loves you and offers the pair bundled for a 15% discount!
The balloon on my birthday card was created using a sheet of Designer Series Paper packaging paper (you know, the one that you usually throw away?). I like the thicker weight of it for the balloon (and that it was free!). Have you played with the new Designer Washi Sheets? I love the colors and patterns! I cut a small square and stuck it to the paper before I ran it through my Big Shot (the washi sheets are self adhesive). I will be playing with them a bit more to discover other ways to use them. If you check out page 10 of the 2015 Occasions Catalgoue there are a few great ideas using them right from Stampin' Up!.
One of my favorite details on this card has to be the texture that the cotton ribbon brings. I cut one stitched side of the ribbon away and frayed it to pull out the threads. I tied the threads in a knot for the balloon "tail". The remaining piece was used as the banner on the balloon. For a video tutorial on fraying your ribbon visit here!
Thank-you for visiting today! Next up on the blog hop is Lisa Harlow.
She is an amazing designer ... click on over!
Have a creative day!
